Taking the CD player alone, the Arcam CDS50 is already amongst the best in its class. At its heart is an ESS Sabre 9038 DAC (Digital to Analogue Convertor). Used in conjunction with a high precision clocking mechanism (for ultra-low jitter) and custom designed power supply, it delivers sensational sound quality.

Super Audio CD (SACD) – the ultimate version of CD
To hear the Arcam CDS50 at its very best, try it with Hi-Res SACD. These Direct Stream Digital (DSD) discs offer a far higher resolution than ordinary CDs and are similar in resolution to 24-bit music files. The result is a more natural sound, revealing subtle detail and texture in the music.

Stream your music
More than just a CD player, the Arcam CDS50 also includes a built-in streamer. Link to your system by wired Ethernet or by built-in Wi-Fi and compatible with UPnP and CIFS audio streaming standards, the CDS50 is the ideal device for listening to music stored on your NAS drive, laptop, PC or Mac. With the ability to handle a wide range of file formats, including FLAC, WAV, AAC, AIFF, OGG, MP3, WMA, the CDS50 is flexible enough to handle all your music streaming needs.

Plus it’s also a stand-alone DAC
Thanks to the CDS50 featuring optical and coaxial digital inputs, it can also be used as a stand-alone DAC. This means that you can plug in other components, such as your TV, set-top box or games console and get access to the 32-bit, reference quality ESS DAC. More than just a CD and streamer, the CDS50 also gives your existing digital components a huge boost in sound quality.

MusicLife control app
Take full control of streaming music to your Arcam device with the MusicLife control app (now available for Android and Apple iOS devices). Working with the wireless system, it lets you stream music directly from your device as well as servers or computers connected via UPnP (Universal Plug n’ Play). The latest version brings Internet Radio, Podcasts plus streaming from TIDAL and Qobuz. Advanced features, such as library searching, sorting, shuffle and repeat playback are also catered for.

Studio quality XLR balanced outputs
In addition to regular RCA analogue, coaxial and optical digital outputs the CDS50 is also equipped with XLR balanced audio outputs. Connect to a compatible amplifier and you'll have a truly professional connection with ultra-low signal loss - even over longer runs.

Backlit remote control with learning ability
As standard, the Arcam CDS50 is supplied with a backlit, learning remote control. This makes it easier to use in low light levels and it will control other handy functions – such as your amp’s volume control. For effortless control as part of a home automation system, the CDS50 also features IR in, TRIG in sockets and a RS232 interface.
